Plasseraud IP Strengthens Its European Presence with the Opening of a New Office in Amsterdam
Following its successful expansion into Munich, Shanghai, Prague, Madrid and Alicante, Plasseraud IP is pleased to announce the opening of its new office in Amsterdam, joined by 3 highly experienced Patent Attorneys and 1 senior paralegal. This move underscores the firm’s international ambitions and reinforces its position as a major player in the European intellectual property landscape.
The Amsterdam office will be headed by Johan Renes, a highly experienced Patent Attorney with over 30 years of practice in the life sciences sector. Johan’s career spans patent litigation, licensing, and strategic advisory, making him an ideal leader for the new office. Before joining Plasseraud IP, Johan was a partner at Simmons & Simmons and has a long history of working with leading pharmaceutical and life science companies.
Johan’s extensive practice in patent litigation includes being a recognized UPC Representative. His expertise before the Unified Patent Court (UPC) will be a significant asset to Plasseraud IP’s clients, helping them navigate the complexities of the European patent litigation system, which is crucial for companies seeking to protect their innovations across multiple jurisdictions.
With the opening of the Amsterdam office Plasseraud IP significantly expands its service offering in the Netherlands, where the firm will provide tailored support to multinational corporations, mid-sized companies, startups, and research institutes. The Amsterdam office will offer a comprehensive range of IP services, with a strong focus on patents, ranging from filing and prosecution to defending clients’ interests in complex patent litigation, both at the national and European levels.
“The opening of the Amsterdam office marks a significant milestone in our international development,” said Eric Burbaud, Managing Partner at Plasseraud IP. “Johan’s deep expertise and his strategic vision for IP will play a crucial role in helping us better serve our clients across Europe, especially in a market as dynamic as the Netherlands.”
With a strong emphasis on IP litigation, the Amsterdam office will also serve as a hub for managing and protecting IP portfolios in all fields of technology, particularly in sectors such as life sciences, pharma, medtech, and consumer goods.
The creation of this office demonstrates Plasseraud IP’s ongoing commitment to meeting the evolving needs of clients in the rapidly changing world of intellectual property, and to supporting innovation at the heart of Europe’s leading IP markets.
